The Wave

Description A coin is thrown backward into a catch on a fingertip.
Start Hold a coin flatwise between the right thumb and middle finger with the palm facing down and the fingers pointing away from you. The hand should be about shoulder height.
Directions
  1. Quickly pull the hand backwards (releasing the coin with the thumb early in the motion). The hand should now be palm up with the fingers pointing backwards and the thumb near the right ear. The coin should now be balanced on the tip of the middle finger.
  2. Reverse the move to get back to the start.
Comments Instead of rotating the hand backwards you can just quickly bring the hand up then down, releasing the coin with the thumb except at the very bottom. It feels like the coin is floating beneath your fingers as your hand moves up and down.
Variations
Two Coin Easy Method

Start as above but with two coins held in a stack. During the pull back movement let the bottom coin slide down so that it is caught in a balance on the second phalanx of the middle finger.

Two Coin Hard Method
Start as for the above two coin method. During the pull back motion let the bottom coin drift sideways to be caught in a balance on the ring or index finger.

The first method isnt too hard. The second method looks better but is really hard to get consistent. Its not too bad if you catch the coin close to the palm but catching them right at the tip is really tricky.
