Double Flip
(174)
|
| Description |
This trick involves holding a stack of two coins between two
fingers of either
hand then alternating flipping the coins. |
| Start |
Start with a stack of two coins held edgewise between the thumb and the index finger
of the right hand. The thumb should
be above the index finger
with the fingers pointing
to the left. Now grab the stack with the thumb and the index finger of the left hand in
a similiar manner with the thumb close
to you and the index finger
on the far side of
the stack. |
| Directions |
- Pull the left most coin to the left so that it rotates
about its bottom edge 90º. The bottom edge remains in contact
with the other coin during this motion.
- Continue the rotation while
moving the bottom edge up to the top of the stack. The result effect is
that the coin has been flipped 180º and we are back to the
starting position.
- Now repeat the move with the right hand by pulling towards
you on the coin.

| Comments |
The coins can also be rotated in the opposite directions |
Variations
|
| Thumb
Rotation |
 |
- Start as above. The right hand coin starts with heads
facing right.
- Pull the right most coin out so it rotates 90º
as in
the above trick.
- Bring the right thumb
over
the far side of the coin and press the coin against the left thumb. Release the index finger so the coin is now
held flatwise between the two thumbs.
- Rotate the right thumb
around
the left thumb so that the
coin also slides around the thumb.
- When the coin gets to the top of the thumb slide it back into the stack
in the original position but now the coin has heads facing left.
Make sure at least half of the tip of the left thumb extends out past the two
coins. This makes room for the coin to be held against the thumb and rotated about it.
The trick looks best when its performed quickly and smoothly. Try and
perform Step 2 and 3 in one motion.
For Step 5 you can also slide the coin to the back of the stack. Or at
Step 5 slide the coin along the edge of the other coin, around the
left index finger, replace the right thumb with the right index finger, slide the coin
along the bottom edge of the other coin then onto the front of the
stack.
